New layout, new posts, new crafts, new goodies!!!
Now Origami! If memory serves I haven't done a post on this particular art yet. I'm not gonna lie Origami can get a little complicated. That's why I went to great lengths to find a printable diagram and even a Video Tutorial. So go for it it's fun. Just think! When you get the hang of it you'll be able to fold your own unique creations.
The origami crane is one of the easiest and most popular of all origami models: The instructions presented below will take you through the steps of making your first origami sculpture.
What You'll Need
------------------------------------------------------------------------
All you'll need is some pretty paper to craft this elegant bird.
Up first we have video instructions
I know that some won't want to sit and watch the video over and over. So I found some printable instructions so that you can follow along with the video, to make things easier. Also for those who'd rather share this tutorial with friends or something.
For a printable .pdf version of the crane instructions, click here.
Below is an example of what's in the printout you'll need a .pdf reader to actually view and print out the instructions. I actually have two that I can vouch for.
- The well known:Adobe Reader
- And the not so well known (but functions just as well and better in some aspects):FoxIt PDF Reader
Diagram Instructions

Turn the paper over to the white side. Fold the paper in half, crease well and open, and then fold again in the other direction. |
3. Using the creases you have made, Bring the top 3 corners of the model down to the bottom corner. Flatten model. |
4. Fold top triangular flaps into the centre and unfold | 5. Fold top of model downwards, crease well and unfold |
6. Open the uppermost flap of the model, bringing it upwards and pressing the sides of the model inwards at the same time. Flatten down, creasing well. |
7. Turn model over and repeat Steps 4-6 on the other side. | 8. Fold top flaps into the centre. |
9. Repeat on other side, so your model looks like this. | 10. Fold both ‘legs’ of model up, crease very well, then unfold. |
11. Inside Reverse Fold the “legs” along the creases you just made. | 12. Inside Reverse Fold one side to make a head, then fold down the wings |
